Privacy Policy

Last updated: 16th October 2026

This policy explains how Sloe & Hurst ("we", "us") collects and uses personal information when you visit sloeandhurst.co.uk, contact us, follow us on Instagram or buy from us online or in person.

Who we are

Sloe & Hurst is run by Joseph Lynch, based at Unit A, 82 James Carter Road, Mildenhall, IP28 7DE. We are the "data controller" for the information described here. You can contact us about privacy at info@sloeandhurst.co.uk.

What we collect, why, and our legal basis

Contact form and emails. If you message us through the website, we receive your name, email address and the contents of your message. The form is provided by our website host, IONOS, and messages arrive in our business email account, which is hosted by Titan. We use the details to reply to you. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries (or, where you're asking about an order, taking steps at your request). We keep enquiries for 12 months after our last contact with you.

Instagram followers. We may analyse publicly available information from people who follow or interact with our Instagram account, such as usernames, profile information and engagement, to understand our audience and improve our marketing. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in promoting our business. This information comes from Instagram, which is run by Meta and has its own privacy policy. We don't use it to send you unsolicited direct messages or emails. You can object to this at any time by contacting us.

Orders and accounting records. If you buy from us online, we collect your name, email address, delivery address, phone number (if you give one) and the details of your order. Payments are processed by Stripe or PayPal, and we receive confirmation of the payment, not your full card details or PayPal login. If you buy from us in person, card payments are processed by SumUp, and we receive a record of the transaction, not your full card details. We use this information to fulfil and deliver your order, deal with returns and refunds, and keep the accounts and records the law requires. Our legal bases are contract (fulfilling your order) and legal obligation (tax and accounting). We keep these records for as long as the law requires, usually six years.

Who we share information with

We only share information where needed to run the business, with:

  • IONOS, which hosts our website and online shop

  • Titan, which hosts our business email

  • SumUp, which processes in-person card payments

  • Stripe and PayPal, which process online payments (they also carry out their own fraud checks)

  • Royal Mail, which delivers orders (we share your name, delivery address and, where needed, email or phone number for tracking)

  • our accountant or bookkeeper

  • authorities such as HMRC, where required by law

We don't sell your personal information.

International transfers

Some of our providers may process information outside the UK. Where they do, they are required to use appropriate safeguards under UK data protection law.
